Hi fellow TC'ers,

Since we are so starved of Tiki events down here in Australia, i'm putting one on myself. My band is having an album launch so it's going to be a beach burnin', tiki torchin', jungle beatin' shakedown!

see the below poster and blurb...

*Had enough of the winter blues already? Dreaming of a tropical paradise on an island far far away? Take off on an escape to the South Seas for one night by following the beating drums towards the Zoo on Saturday July 8 for the "Night of the Tiki Terrors".

Be savaged by the sounds of voodoo rhythms, jungle beats and primitive rock and roll as Wiseacre and Sydney's Casino Rumblers both launch their debut albums on the night, with El Borracho and the Surfari Krishnas adding to the inferno of live music. See live tiki carving by world renowned carver Marcus Thorn of Tiki Beat, marvel at authentic Tahitian hula dancers and enjoy the sounds of wild exotica, cool surf and garage rock between bands, all the while sipping on exotic cocktails available in limited edition tiki mugs on the night. *

The new Wiseacre album "STEP UP" out thru Green/MGM

Set to the tempo of a drunken tap dancer and smacking of dirty old man cheek, Wiseacre's full-length album "STEP UP" is the new soundtrack to your Saturday night. Recorded at the prestigious Rockinghorse studios in Byron Bay, Wiseacre have stepped back into the ring armed with an arsenal of hard-hitting new tunes, rocking riffs, punchy brass and explosive energy. The 13 track album will be in stores on July 15 thru Green/MGM distribution for $20, or available on the night for $15.

After teaming up with psychobilly rockers the Casino Rumblers for their CD Launch in Sydney recently, Wiseacre and the Rumblers are again joining forces for a massive DOUBLE ALBUM launch at the Zoo on July 8. The Casino Rumblers album "SEE HOW IT'S GONNA END" is out now on Sound System thru MGM http://www.casinorumblers.com

Also joining in on the fun will be the "country chainsaw massacre" of local cow-punks El Borracho, and self proclaimed "instrumental surf gods" The Surfari Krishnas (featuring various talents of Sixfthick/Fred Band/ex-Blowhard members), who will be setting the tone for an evening that will boast not just liberal doses of good fun rock'n'roll, but also:

LIVE TIKI CARVING by Australia's leading carver Marcus Thorn of Tiki Beat, who will also be supplying the exotic decor for the Zoo to really set the mood for the swingin' tropical safari. Visit http://www.tikibeat.com.au

LIVE HULA DANCING on stage between bands by the Marama Tahitian Hula Dance Group. Who said live rock'n'roll mixed with authentic French Polynesian hula dance doesn't work???

EXOTIC island flavoured cocktails available in LIMITED EDITION TIKI MUGS on the night. Buy a tasty cocktail and keep the mug!!

hey hewey,

tall lanky dude on the left...

pity you can't make it - hopefully your gf can. should be a great nite!!

our new album should be in stores in Sydney after July 15. If not, it is definitely able to be ordered thru any store (thru Green Media/MGM distribution). Or we are in the process of getting some kind of online ordering thing happening soon too.

we will be playing again down in sydney sometime soon (we were just down there at the Annandale in June!) - will keep you posted!

anyway, will post pics after the weekend.
cheers,
harro.

here's some pics from the night - there was about 450 people, everyone loved the theme and had a ball. Marcus tiki beat 'tikified' the whole place and sent the woodchips flying, cocktails were drunk in limited edition mugs, hula girls shimmied and swayed and the bands rocked out - there will be another one soon!

one of the tahitian hula girls joined us on stage for a boogie:

check out the guy with the tiki mug in his hand!!:

there were 2 types of mugs available on the night:

i shipped a carton of the ceramic easter islander mugs out from the states, plus about 30 or so plastic cups with "Wiseacre CD Launch 8-7-06" painted on them - they all flew out the door!!

marcus from tiki beat showing how it's done: (couldn't have done it without him!)

there are heaps more pics at http://www.wiseacre.com.au (and mp3's too!)

thanks for looking!

hi paipo, unfortunately haven't been able to find anyone who got a pic of the crowdsurfing moai yet, but there are a few people who have said they have pics of the night that i haven't seen yet - maybe we could be lucky... everyone chuckles when they think back on that though - the "TIKI TOSS" was one way it was findly recalled as.

freddie that was a bed-head at one stage, and it was actually a prop on the Scooby-Doo movie that was filmed here on the Gold Coast, but i haven't seen the movie so i don't know if this is true or not??

hewey we're working on getting back down to Sydney, but just haven't finalised the dates yet..

thanks for looking, glad you enjoyed the pics as much as i enjoyed putting on the night.
