What did Vougue use for a finish on their rattan furniture? - Collecting Tiki

I've washed them down with Murphy's Oil Soap and warm water. What remains of the finish is a dark patina like appearance with other areas missing the finish alltogether. What did Vogue use for a finish..varnish, laquer, poly, etc? I'd like to restore them to a more consistant finish if I can without going nuts with them. Luckily I've been able to find exact fitting cushions in a bark cloth very reasonably priced if anyone is interested. Any help would be apreciated. the Uke Man
