Hawaiian wild cats?

So, I was at the park near chinaman's hat recently, and I see 6 or 7 light, golden reddish brown cats with strips eating out of a bowl of food someone had put near the bushes.

Feral cats come in all colors, but these cats where all the same size and color. They were small like kittens, but looked like minature adults. In fact, they looked like little cougars.

Any ideas?

Twice in my life I've been offered jobs shooting cats. (along with Goats and some coral eating starfish) when I was residing off the the East Coast of Australia.

They (Cats) are horribly destructive to the ballance of life on little atols where they have been dropped off for hundreds of years...not just along the Sir Joseph Banks Islands...but all over.

Still..it never made it on my resume.
