I recently bought a magic chef beverage cooler. It fits under the bar and has a glass door. I am thinking of taking it back as I like my beer real cold and the temp. setting only goes down to 41 degrees!.. Does anyone have any other product suggestions. I can't go crazy with the price, this one was 299.00...What is the proper temp for refridgerating brews?...thanks |

When you buy a fridg you can look at the spec sheet and see the lowest temp |

Looks like you bought a wine storage fridge. But 41 is fine for almost all beers and some are even better at 45 to 55. But it might be risky to store opened juices or mixes in there. There are mini refridgerators as low as $99 around here but not with glass doors that adds a bunch to price. I have a Danby wine cooler and it has worked great for 3 years so far and I do store beer in it usually Ales that can take long term aging like trappist ales and bottle conditioned triples. BT |

Thanks for all the advice and info on this. I was sure earlier in the week I'd be taking this ''beverage cooler'' back. One night I attempeted to research similar products but none of them gave the info on how cold you can set the thermostat. I got a soda out of the bottom shelf and it was ''hella'' cold. I had put the long necks on the top shelf, to be closer to reach down and grab at a moments notice and sodas on the bottom 2 shelves. This was a mistake on my part. I have rearranged the shelves and tonight at 5pm I will make my decision. If that bottle of beer is really, really, cold...well then I'm keeping it. Tonights happy hour drinks will be scientific as well as pleasurable...as it should be...CHEERS |
