moon-rays: sinister surf

The latest from the world's greatest surf lounge/beat jazz monster/noir band is here. Here's a review I just sent out in my newsletter:

Hey Thrill Seeker...

The Moon-Rays are Thrillville's permanant spiritual house band. Their unique
blend of surf, lounge, jazz, exotica, monsters, spies, PIs and beatniks
sonically sums up what Thrillville is all about. After all, they did
voluntarily supply me with my theme song (available in its complete version
on their second CD, "The Ghouls Go West"). Now they're back and bitchin'er
than ever with their third album, SINISTER SURF. Man, this is some slick,
sly, stylish, smokin' spooky stuff. Their trademark instro combo of go-go
guitar, beatnik bongos and sultry saxophone is beautifully arranged on every
single track. Their psychotronic sensibilites permeate the original
compositions, from the torrid title tune to the cool ghoul bop of "Spookwalk"
to the hilarious hepcat revisionism of Poe's "The Raven" to the swingin'
sexploitation of "The Devil in Nylons." A bonus track, "Sophomore Werewolf in Love,"
is a doo-wop homage to my favorite flick, "I Was A Teenage Werewolf."
The other bonus track, "Night of the Day of the Dead" is a tribute to two of
my favorite cultures, zombies and Mexicans. There are 11& 1/2 tracks in all
and as usual, there ain't a clunker in the bunch. They really put the "sin" in
"Sinister," baby.

Very few modern bands do what they do (two other outstanding bands, the
Metrolites and Clouseaux come to mind) and nobody does it quite as smoothly.
This is THE soundtrack for your upcoming Halloween shindig as well as your
next tiki/pool party. I'll only have a single copy to give away at each of my
upcoming spookshows, ZOMBIE-RAMA next week Thurs Oct 5, MONSTER-RAMA Thurs
Oct 19 and the HALLOWEEN SPOOKYLAU up at Copia Fri. Oct 27
(deets: http://www.thrillville.net/calendar/index.html). So don't count on
winning one from me, that's a lottery you can't afford to lose, so order your
copy of SINISTER SURF now!: http://www.ravenscott2000.com/Moon-Rays.html

Thanks to bandleader SCOTT MENSCHING for providing the promo copies and for
valiantly battling and bucking the Conspiracy Against Cool infecting
contemporary culture.

Cheers 'n' chills, Will the Thrill
