Ma'Kai Lounge in Santa Monica

Pages: 1 6 replies

Anyone know anything about this establishment. Obviously, it is not a tiki mecca like it's revered Florida namesake, but is there any tiki?

"I knew Ma’Kai had a happy hour but I didn’t know that on Sundays from 3 to 7pm the restaurant/bar also has a luau complete with hula dancing and live Hawaiian music. Sounds like a perfect situation: the restaurant faces the ocean and has a nice lanai that’s perfect for people watching passers-by on the sidewalk as well as viewing the sunset, a soft breeze wafts into the restaurant evoking a summery beachy feel."

Beautiful decor, although it is unclear as to whether there are tikis.

Menus sure looks good. :)

OK, who lives in SaMo to check this place out?

Two Wheel Tiki, are you the man?

Maybe someone that posted about the place (with photos) in this thread will chime in; http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=21161&forum=17

An incredible South Seas paradise, with a patio, across the street from the ocean!
Half the establishment is devoted to the bar, with a separate patio and portion of the restaurant for dining. The outside bar has a fire pit.

I hope I missed the tikis, even though I gave it a good once over.
Worthy of its namesake.

Maybe one of our number can help them see the light?

A great place where one can see the blue pacific and feel the kiss of the ocean breeze while dining on the patio, but, alas, the Hawaiian decor is gone.
