Konakai.com gets off its fat ass, updates site (sort of...)

After a highly inattentive two and a half years or so – wherein we had a bunch of babies and moved the family from Chicago to Minneapolis and back again, and launched into an insane home remodel – we thought perhaps before another year passed into history, we at Konakai.com would get off our fat ass and actually try and update the site in a significant and legitimate fashion. Truth be told, we didn't get as far as we would have hoped - yet. There's a whole new design sitting just waiting in the wings, assuming we can figure out some of the "technical bits" we're hoping to add. But at our current rate of progress, it could be 2008 before that comes around.

As it stands, there's still a couple hundred links that need to be added – links sent our way from many of you fine folks. We'll be trying to get to those in the next few days, as well as fixing up all the broken links and inaccurate or just stupid classifications, but in the meantime, we wanted to say thanks for thinking of us, and more importantly, thanks for your patience. We sincerely appreciate your ongoing suggestions, and welcome your further thoughts on classifications, new sites, broken links, errors in content or judgment, well-wishes and the occasionally simply bizarre emails that come our way from time to time.

There's a truly astounding wealth of sites and artists and musicians and tiki lovers out there, and what you've produced to share your love of this thing with each other borders on the breathtaking. Of course, it could just be that I'm winded from walking a little too fast across the room to type this up...

Cheers and aloha. Happy new year, gang.

woo hoo!...great news as the site is in my favorites!

That's wonderful news! I'm sure it must be an overwhelming task, but I look forward to seeing updates. Thanks for putting the time into it, it's much appreciated.

Konakai was my gateway to TikiCentral.

Mahalo.

Yes, keep up the good work, Kona Kai is THE web resource I like to recommend to newbies in need of a Tiki hook up.

About damn time! Babies...moving...what lame excuses...

Seriously, your site played a huge role in rekindling my long-dormant interest in tiki, and the links to home bars gave me my first inkling that building my own was actually feasible.

My exact thoughts when I saw this thread! Or in short, ME TOO!

I frequently go back to Konakai for that "everything at a glance" resource.

Thanks!

Good work, Dave.

Back in Chicago, eh?

Next round of sugar-Tais at HK is on me!

Why not at the...KONA KAI !!?

Yes Kong, thanks, you are bigger than Grog, you are the great KongTiki. Thanks for your generosity.

Maybe Kong has time to do another clean-up of KonaKai if he is available. :D I think half of the links are now bad. :(

I had forgotten how informative Konakai is.
