Cool Lounge/Exotica Song....I Mean It

Pages: 1 4 replies

Since the "Ultimate Tiki Tunes" cd is on hold, I thought many would like to hear one of my favorite songs that I sent to Holden (he spent a ton of time on this thing). "Mary Ann" by Lounge/Swing band "Swingerhead" from their 1998 cd "She Could Be A Spy". Ocean waves, spy/surf guitar, singing about a girl on a tropical island, Bali Hai chorus in the middle, Mancini-like piano ending with more ocean.....The cd is out of print, as is their last one "Destination Moon" from 2002 that featured "House Of Bamboo". I've seen the songs available for download. Check it out.

Cd is back in print on several sites....preview track 9 here...

I would try looking on CD Baby for Michael Andrew/Swingerhead stuff. I recently ordered the "Destination Moon" and the Christmas CD (which is excellent) from them. We have tickets for his Xmas show with his Atomic Big Band next weekend. If I get a chance to talk to him, I will ask him about the status of his albums.

I wish he would get around to making some more recordings. He recently did the music (and had a bit part) for the Orlando Shakespeare Festival's production of 12th Night which you can get on CD as well. I've also heard that there is actual progress being made on his dream project of re-making "The Nutty Professor", but I've heard that for years. Really talented performer.

Just wanted to pass along the text from the order verification email the I got from CD Baby:

Your CDs have been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.
A team of 50 employees inspected your CDs and polished them to make sure they were in the best possible condition before mailing.
Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over the crowd as he put your CDs into the finest gold-lined box that money can buy.
We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of Portland waved "Bon Voyage!" to your package, on its way to you, in our private CD Baby jet on this day, December 9, 2009.
We hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. In commemoration, we have placed your picture on our wall as "Customer of the Year." We're all exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!
