When in Cologne....

...do not expect much in terms of Tiki establishments. The Anthropology Museum is nice, there are some Thai places that serve Polynesian cocktails, and some good cocktail bars. But this lovely lil' town has ONE place I wish my chosen home town of L.A. would have: Behold the Rum Kontor:

This unassuming store front hides about 400 different kinds of Rum avaialble for purchase:

The other wall

...and me in between! I do not think I will be able to try all of these during my stay here, I still will have to be able to shoot straight after all ......but one can try.

Oh wow!!!

I travel to Germany pretty regularly on business, Hamburg usually ... a few tiki places there...

Now, I need a reason to get to Cologne...

I'd have never made it out of that store alive!

When in Hamburg, check out this place:

Weinquelle Luehrmann
Luebecker Str. 145
Ph: 040/256391

Not quite like the Rum Kontor, but they do have a great selection of rums, some Demeraras among them.
This was MY prize I brought home from the Rum Kontor today:

15 Year old Cadenhead Green Label Demerara Rum

A classic. The last bottle they had. It's not being made anymore. This is some dark, heavy joy juice. Major molasses magic.

I thnk I just heard the sound of angels singing.
