BenZart Pelicans?

Pages: 1 6 replies

Hey There Ohana!

Some friends of mine are moving out of state and gave me, among a whole bunch of other awesome stuff, these two pelican carvings...

They've been outside in the heat and rain for who knows how long, and they came with the house when my friends bought it four years ago. Naturally, anything that "comes with" places had to have come from somewhere, so I'm wondering if these were "saved" from the trash pile when our beloved BenZart's Tropicana tikis were removed.

Whattya think, Ben? Did ya do pelicans during the Tropicana years? Do these fellas look familiar at all?

Mahaloz!

This is painful... did a search for Ben's Tropicana Tikis... ALL pics eaten by Shutterfly's file migration. I think Ben said he did 60 or so tikis at the Trop, and no pics left. Not sure about pelican's, I don't recall ever seeing any. But it sure would be cool to see some of those old carvings re-emerge from the former Tropicana "Island of Las Vegas". I mean, you know those never got hauled away in the dumpster. But where'd they all go? Sad, sad sad. :(

Hey Tiki Lee's, Thanks for keeping an eye out for the Long since disappeared Trop Tikis. Unfortunately I never carved any pelicans for them and those you found are not mine. The only thing I carved besides tiki was a small 24 inch dolphin to hang on the wall in one of their eateries.
Aarons, Here are links to All my Shutterfly pictures including the bTropicanas.
Thanks guys.

Hi TikiLee's, These would be Benzart Pelicans: Only back then Benzart was known as "Mr Pelican" because Pelicans were his Specialty. These are just a sample as I did Many, Many Pelicans over the years.
Enjoy:

Heh...

I should have KNOWN that your pelicans would be of WAAAAAAY better quailty than the ones I found! Yours are gorgeous!

I'll keep up the vigil in the search for your Trop Tikis. They gotta be out there somewhere!
