Malibu pier to get a Beachcomber restaurant!

Pages: 1 16 replies

Someone at work mentioned to me that Zuma J and his bankroll buddies are going to open a 1940's style beachcomber resturaunt and bar on the malibu pier!. This will probably be where Alices used to be. This could be real cool.

I'll believe it when I see it.

There was an article regarding this in the LA Times yesterday.

Unless Tiki Diablo or the likes is workin on it, I'm sure they'll miss their mark. I'll be surfing there tommorow, so I'll check it out.

It's going to be run by the same people as "The Beachcomber Cafe at Crystal Cove". Decidedly non-tiki.

I can't see why the one at the Malibu Pier will be any different.

Chris

tiki no, oceanic yes. Something is better than nothing.

The only parking close by is the State run lot and they charge $14.00, it's one thing for me to dash across PCH with my surfboard but to go to a restaurant? That was the death of Alice's. I did see that Sept. 14th, Dick Dale is playing at the Malibu Inn across the street!

SoccerTiki and I have actually been to The Beachcomber Cafe in Crystal Cove and the drinks and food were great. Although there was nothing Tiki in the restaurant being in Crystal Cove was like stepping back in time to The Beach Blanket Bingo Era :)

TT

The Beachcomber Cafe in Crystal Cove has 3 tiki mugs and 1 bowl specific to the restaurant. They are dated 2009, and are made by Tiki Farm. We parked across the street for dinner. I think the parking is complimentary if you eat at the restaurant, but the attendant was gone by the time we left so the parking was free...The food was good too. Here's the drinks we ordered.

BB

Ooooh they have logo plates too! :o

Nice!

How were the drinks?

H

Ha! Instead of a rum barrel it's a rum crate!

TT

The three we had were on the sweet 'n' fruity side of delicious.

The Tiki room is incredible and easily would satisfy anyone on this board. However, it is reserved for private parties and requires an advance payment of $300, which goes to food only.

That being said, the ocean view is magnificent and the room is very nice to stand just outside of and gaze into.

Great pics Tonga Tom of those drinks, I may have to somehow find one of those bowls...
Any pictures of The Tonga Lei Room Possibly...?
