Hello,

I've been searchin' for days with no luck, does anyone know where I can get Thatch in the Chicago area or can recommend any stores to shop for supplies? ( bamboo, grass, weaves, tiki heads) and so on.

I have a huge bar in my basement that is straight out of the 60's/70's with wood paneling, I figured I'm make it into a bad ass Tiki Bar

thanks in advance for any help!

Try the gift shop at Hala Kahiki in River Grove.

hala kahiki is good if you need a piece of bamboo here or there..they are expensive, in my view...sounds like you got a big job ahead of you..it would be better worth your while dollar wise to order in bulk from a distributor like oceanic arts or someone. of course, if you are independantly wealthy , then what the hell do you care how much bamboo costs??

... hala kahiki stocks only so much material at a time...it will take you months to buy all you will need from them.

also, bamboo season is over here in the midwest, but pier one imports and home depot do carry bamboo in the summer months...

This company is based in Central Florida but they would be able to deliver to the Chicago area. Try http://www.amazuluinc.com. Their prices are reasonable and it is really good quality stuff. I have seen them at the IAAPA tradeshow.
