Joey Bishop, last living Rat Pack member, dies

Pages: 1 5 replies

Joey Bishop, the stone-faced comedian who found success in nightclubs, television and movies but became most famous as a member of Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack, has died at 89.

Joey Bishop was the last surviving member of the Rat Pack.

He was the group's last surviving member. Peter Lawford died in 1984, Sammy Davis Jr. in 1990, Dean Martin in 1995, and Sinatra in 1998.

Truly the end of a very special era

Cheers,
Ray

I always thought Angie Dickinson should have a kind of honorary membership in the Rat Pack. There was a man's dame and she was always hnging out with those guys wasn't she? I saw her recently in a celebrity Texas hold'em tournament. Tough old broad that looks good for her age, huh?

Shirley McClain, too.

I look as Joey Bishop as the thoughtful, soft-spoken, introspective member of the Rat Pack...kinda like George Harrison (the quiet Beatle), John Entwhistle (the Ox) and Bill Wyman (the Sideman). BTW, I too think Shirley McClain is the last Ratpacker. She wuz one o' da boyz!

Joey wrote most of their supposedly ad-libbed dialogue. That's why it has such a dry quality, rather than Sinatra's real life hard as nails attitude.

Joey's all over the Timex Sinatra show. You can get DVDs of the show these days....

I was really sad to hear about the passing of Joey Bishop. It is truly the end of an era. I guess he's now with all his pallies at the big casino in the sky. R.I.P. Joey
