Waikiki: Best Place To Buy Tikis and Hawaiian Shirts

Pages: 1 5 replies

I know Gecko would normally be the answer, but I will be unable to get there.

Would the International Market Place be the best place for tikis and HS?
Is there somewhere else in Waikiki?

B

Hey,

I was there not that long ago. The International Market Place is an open-air market in the heart of Waikiki, built around a 100-year-old banyan tree. This labyrinth of kiosks near Thor's was pretty fruitful for me. You must stop in Thors! Be sure and check out "Da Big Kahuna", when I was there this really nice and amazing looking bartender was working there (sigh).

"Tiki's" is right down on the main drag and you won't be able to miss it.

Aloha Tower Marketplace at the Honolulu waterfront located at Piers 8, 9 and 10 on Honolulu Harbor is a pretty cool place for shopping and lunch. And you may see my old ship, the 378 ft Coast Guard Cutter Sherman moored across the basin. If I remember correctly within walking distance of this area is a China-town like section that had great shopping for those small in-expensive gifts for nephew's, nieces and the person watching your pet or watering your plants while your away.

If they still have the BIG Swap Meet at the stadium, that will be your best bet on shirts! Relative cheep, all sizes, colors, and styles. I believe the Meet is every Saturday morning.

Aloha and have fun!

The best place I have ever been (anywhere) for Hawaiian shirts is Bailey's Antiques (517 Kapahulu Ave) in Honolulu. Max from the Thor Stor so kindly pointed it out to us when we were there this september. It's an amazing experience. Literally thousands of shirts stuffed into one little store. Prices ranged from $10 to $5,000 and up. You will most likely find the exact shirt to fit your style, though you may regret the find once you see the price tag... But once you've run around the islands for a bit and are getting tired of seeing the same designs over and over, Bailey's will come as a breath of fresh air.

I'll second Baileys, the place is awsome! Here are a few Pics but dont tell everyone...shhhhhh!

Mahalo, for the advice.
I also might add Reyn Spooner in either the Royal Hawaiian or Ala Moana.
There also is a Tori Richards on Kalakaua and in Ala Moana.
All have aloha gear as well as shirts with Tikis.
