The Ventures

I just saw The Ventures last night, and they still rock! Nokie Edwards was with them and he looked a little frail and sat on a stool for most of the show, but he could still play his ars off. I had almost forgot how much I loved this band. If they play near you, definitely go see them.

I saw them open for Roy Orbison at the Club Casino in Hampton Beach back about '86 or '87. They were amazing, as was Roy. The best thing about them is you don't have to worry about anyone losing their voice. I will definitely check them out if they ever come this way again!

No Offense, as I have seen the Ventures and Nookie solo recently,
( they are good players)

but, if you like surf/instro rock check out many more bands, some in your area. and the Monthly surf rock shindigs at Otto's Shrunken Head in NY.

I saw The Ventures here in Japan at the end of July . Nokie was not with them ; in fact the only original member was Don Wilson , but like you say they rocked . They even sang ( not well , but ...) on a couple of tunes , and did a short " acoustic " set of about 4-5 songs . Glad I finally saw them .

I was at Otto's for that a few Saturdays ago- it was a great show. I'll be there every month!
