Greetings Tiki Tribe, Here is a project that has absorbed my spare-time for about six months. It is an electric Hawaiian guitar. Eight string, solid body. For those of you not musically inclined. it is played horizontally with picks and a metal bar. It has been introduced on two music site, but I hope it has a place here. I will attempt multiple pics by editing this post. [ Edited by: limau 2007-11-28 18:55 ] [ Edited by: limau 2007-11-28 19:01 ] |

Very cool guitar - like a lap steel. It's great that you made this thing yourself. I almost bought a '52 Fender lap steel for $275 about 5 years ago. Seeing this makes me wanna kick myself all over again for not getting it. It's very nice work! |

Thanks folks, Sam it is a lap guitar. I'm kind of old fashioned and prefer the original name Hawaiian guitar. Or as the Hawaiians say Kika Kila. Heath here are a couple of shots. One shows the fret slots being cut for the abalone inlay. The wood is Honduras Mahogany, very nice for carving. [ Edited by: limau 2007-11-29 02:59 ] |
