Tiki Speakers

I am new to tiki central. I have just started selling tiki speakers. The e-bay listing can be found by keywording tiki speakers or selecting speaki tiki in store search by name. These are hand crafted hardwood tikis sealed from the weather in and out. They use a top of the line 150 watt weather resistant speaker. But the most unique frature is the light. A red, green, blue rotating lights in the eyes, and recessed behind the eyes and in the mouth are red lights that flash to the beat of the music. I have been working on these for almost a year now and feel that the quality is good enough to finally market them. They average 7 1/2 inches in diameter and 20 inches in height and weigh between 7 and 8 pounds. Or check them out on the website http://www.speakitiki.com.

Welcome Rick,

I saw these pop up on Ebay the other day. I was just over at your website, most of your pictures and links are down. Sure like to see more of your products.

What kind of drivers do you have in the speakers? The speakers look nice.

Cheers!

Rick

you better do a search here on tiki central....there is already a thread about another maker of tiki speakers on here and a few of us have already purchased them...i like your idea, but i fear you are too little too late with these.....

T

Did you click on the Tikis? I just checked and everything seems to be working fine. Try it again and see if you still have problems. If you do, than I have work to do. The specs on the speakers are: 5 1/4 two way, Musical power 150 watt, normal power 75 watt, sensitivity 86db, frequency 80hz,response 20Khz, Impedance 4 Ohms. Their construction is poly composite cone, beutel surround, high temp voice coils and silk dome tweeters.I have just figured out an internal design change that will allow me to use a 6 1/5 in. two way that will increase the power handling and output 25 to 50 watts. They are used straight out of the box with no additional drivers (not needed). They hook up to a customers stereo and run through an external control box that controls the lights then out to the tikis. The RGB lights in the center eye are switched so they can be turned on or off and just run the red accent lights (the ones that flash to the music)to be able to change the effects.
Hope this helps
Rick

I saw them after I started marketing these, they never showed up in any of the searches I did. He will have his market and hopefully do well, I will find mine and also hopefully do well.

Hi TikiRick,

Here is a sample of what your site looks like from my end. Just trying to help.

Cheers!

Rick

Rick,

Something has happened to your site since this morning. I was able to see the whole thing with no problems, but now links and pictures don't work.

Time to go to work. Check out http://www.mythicalmusic.net this is which direction I will be going with this.

T

I checked out everything on my end it all seems to be working properly, I got ahold of a freind of mine who knows more about these things than I do, says it worked fine for him but he will also look to see if there my be a problem somewhere.

Bad site = no sales !!!!!

Rick, I like the way you are going with these, but you should offer some unpainted or painted (or burned) with black detail. Search around and you'll see what I'm talking about.

As for your image problem, it could be that when you built your pages on your computer, the images weren't in a specific folder. I run FrontPage 2K and if I don't keep all of my HTML files and image files in the same folder, I get a broken image problem. Hopefully that's the problem, a very easy fix. After you move the images to that folder, you'll need to relink the photos in your web page program. Then upload everything again copying over what you have on the server. If that's the problem, it will be an easy fix.

I also wanted to add that if you decide to download a template to use, make sure you understand raw HTML so you can get rid of any unnecessary codes. Also make sure all images are in the folder (I always copy the original images over to the web folder, just for back up reasons.

I have these which is what you are asking about. They have a stained finish. Most of the dark areas are burnt, some are paint to bring out the accents that where to light. I am working on the picture viewing issue right now.

All the site issues have be addressed and a set will be at the Bahooka for the MS fundraiser

Still no images on the web site. :(

The issue with the images is due to the bad link at the top of the thread in the original post. There's an extra period after the .com and before the slash, causing issues with web browsers requesting the images.

bad: http://www.speakitiki.com./
good: http://www.speakitiki.com/

Good eye, MTB! Funny that it brings you to the site, even with the additional period.

T

If that is all the problem was then I guess I have to fault my fat fingers.
Thanks for the "cure"

I was just looking at these at http://www.speakitiki.com/ lots of pics on the site now, I love these, they look realy cool!

here is a DIY article for desktop ones but I don't like the look of the ones they did

http://www.streettech.com/archives_DIY/tikiSpeakers.html

here are some other interesting speaker designs using bamboo...

these look nice:

http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/green-gadgets-usb-bamboo-speakers/

this one with a live bamboo? appearently its still just a 'concept design' :

http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/03/23/grow-a-bamboo-to-get-better-sound/

I like the look of this, if one had the right size bamboo it would make a nice project, especialy if there was a tiki carved on it
