Rum Inventory

Trying to decide what rums I would need to be able to make most of the recipes in Jeff Berry's books, I decided to take an evening and inventory all the rums mentioned in all the recipes of all four of his books. And here are the results for others so they don't have to go to the trouble:

Puerto Rican white: 91
Jamaican dark: 66
Puerto Rican gold: 31
Demerara: 25
Demerara 151: 22
Jamaican gold: 21
Bacardi 151: 13
Martinique: 10
Virgin Islands amber: 10
Barbados: 9
Barbancourt: 6
Puerto Rican dark: 4
Louisiana: 2
Coconut flavored: 2

I'm sure many out there have a preference for what rum to use for what category. But it showed me that with 6 or 7 rums I could make a majority of the recipes.

And, of course, Jeff Berry encourages Virgin Island rum over most Puerto Rican rum.
So Puerto Rican rum pretty usually can translate into Virgin Island rum easily.

What would that do the formula?

I do enjoy the Grogalizer, unfortunately it doesn't include Sippin' Safari.

Another drink nerd. Join the club! I did that same tally a few years ago... Then you get to the bottom of the list where you have something like Stroh, which you use an ounce of in one recipe and you end up putting it on your shopping list anyway...

However, I was hoping this post was pictures of your rum inventory and we'd get a little liquor porn...

As you wish...

Yes, the inventory is way down and I must say the Conch Republic was left by BK last visit...

Very literally the liquor cabinet these days with the Hideaway off in the distance as a rebuild.

Rum annex with Trader Vic's Flaming Rum (vintage) Rhum Barbencourt 17 year, 12 YO El Do, Pusser's, etc...

Nice. My favorite part is that it looks like every one of those has been opened!

One more reason to come and visit you soon..

Thanks for the photos, guys! I just used them to prove to my husband that my poor little assemblage of 15 or so rums was nothing to be concerned with..

Good point :)
