Need Help Finding TIKI Wall Lamps

Pages: 1 9 replies

I just finished building a TIKI bar and I am looking to put in 5 wall lamps with a TIKI theme. I can’t find anything decent (as stupid as that might sound). Can anyone suggest some ideas for me? I have tried looking for Rattan, Bamboo, etc. lamps and come up short.

Thanks all!

See if Gecko still sells any of his Marquesan wall sconces. They're fabulous looking. I've got one on the wall beside my bar.

Another thought... Talk to some of the lamp makers here (monkeyman, tikiskip, Polynesiac, Tipsy McStagger, and there are others) and get them to make you some of these:

Sorry the big picture is cut off, but you get the picture (so to speak). And if they make you one, tell me about it because I want one too!!

Yet another thought (stop me when you've had enough :)):

Large shells, faux or real, make great wall sconces. These are not actually used as lights, but are uplit with hidden lighting.

Howland's got the right idea (from his spectacular home bar):

Nautical lights work great too. You can find these on ebay pretty easily:

Whatever you do, make the lighting indirect and VERY low wattage. You don't want to see the light bulb.

Sure would love to see what the bar looks like so far...........

Thanks for all the tips guys. I like the nautical lighting idea but can't find the right ones on E-Bay. I am using Simflame circuits which make the bulbs flicker on command. I will need either frosted glass of a Tapa cloth covering on these lamps to make this effect work properly.

I am going to contact some of the guys here on the forum. If anyone reading this wants to volunteer to make some lamps for me I am all ears. I could probably do it myself with the right amount of time and material but I am busy enough putting the bar together and I don't need another arts and crafts project right now.

I will post pictures in about 2-3 weeks. It's going to be very sweet indeed!

Keep those ideas coming pleeeeeeeeze!

Don't know if you saw these or not.
I sold them awhile ago.
But it will give you an idea.

I make most of my lights in the spring/summer.
Don't really do the custom order thing.
It kinda takes the fun out of it and makes it more like a job.

These would look cool too.
Good luck!

Cool lamp GatoRob.
Let's look at how that was made.
These are chicken coops in third world countries.
I got them on ebay marked chicken coop rattan.
The guy had tons of them.
It was around the bird flu thing so I wondered about these.
These ones are big. Bigbro tiki has one of these in his house.
It is made into a hanging lamp.
I have seen smaller ones.
You just put two together and then cut them in half.
Line with paper, trim add light.
Being as you need five lights they will have to be custom.

Just went to Mejers and they have some natical type lamps.
They are blue or red.
But you could sand off all of the paint and let them rust.
Or go to a craft store and get that patina paint that makes them green.
They are $25.00 bucks each.
The only way you will beat that price is to make them yourself.
You will need to frost the glass also.
