Thanks John. Coming from you as an Exotica expert, that's a real compliment. Domenic brought this great Thurston Knudson record that I did not know before:

At first I read the cover's title as "Dark Rums"! :D
The art seems a little bit like a late 60s attempt at mid-century modernism, while I believe the MUSIC might be from the early 50s, even late 40s. My guess is that Thurston kept re-using his old recordings in new covers, because unfortunately, the quality of his drum sound is abysmal...he is the main attraction on these tracks, but his bongo drumming sounds like he is hitting cardboard boxes! Their recording equipment must have clipped the high volume.

But he never disappoints in his concepts and prose:

Separating the LP sides into "Modern Themes" and "Authentic Native Themes"...the Atomic logo of Tempo Records at the bottom...and the first sentence for "Warrior's incantation" says it all:

"The distant peaks of the Himalayas brought within vision of your living room !" BLAM! there they are!

Wow... and thanks for referring to me as an "expert." I'm by no means the expert or collector that most other LuxuriaMusic d.j.s are but I do seriously love the stuff and will continue to play it!

Make sure to let Domenic have you in to spin another set sometime...

I missed the boat! And it doesn't appear to be archived. (I think?)
Do you by chance have a playlist, or a few more interesting titles you played?
