Attractive & Comfortable Rattan Sectional

I hope this post isn't too marginal. Some people have expressed admiration for the sectional in our Tiki Lounge(www.flickr.com/photos/drzarkov/)and others have been seeking info on furniture sources. This past weekend, my wife and I found a great Asian furniture and decor store in Alexandria, Virginia, hidden away in the Build America industrial park that's located directly behind the Marlo Furniture off of Edsall Road: http://javawood.com/_wsn/page2.html.

Scroll down to see the Chamberlain Rattan Sofa Set, which looked like it would be the perfect solution for a Tiki Lounge in a rec room similar to ours. It's also about the same size: the chaise section is only 77 inches deep and the back section is 105 inches long. And it appears to be very strong and well constructed.

When we were looking for our sectional, most of the ones we saw in stores were too big and stodgy looking, brown leather behemoths that wouldn't fit properly our space. That's why we were fortunate to find in a store in Rockville the one you can see in the Flickr photos posted earlier, which fits the Sci Fi/Mid-Century Modern part of the theme, especially after we picked out the wild upholstery.

This rattan sectional at Javawood only costs $750 -- and that includes the coffee table! At that price, you can easily afford to get the white cushions and pillows reupholstered in something more Tiki-ish. We would recommend Spicer's Upholstering in Alexandria if you live in the Northern Virginia area; we've had good experiences with them in the past (See http://www.checkbook.org/sitemap/Washington_DC/Ratings_And_Articles/Upholsterers/detail.cfm?uKey=7510320).

If you can make a physical visit to Javawood, be sure to check out the consignment furniture store located right next door to it.
