Tiki-devolution : Hard Rock Park

Tiki-devolution continues .... the following is from an article on the new Hard Rock Park in Myrtle beach, South Carolina.... an amusement park for those who are tired of Scooby-Doo style parks.

  • Each section has its own themed restaurants and gift shops. The Taste of Paradise over in Rock ’n’ Roll Heaven, for example, is a Pacific-themed grill – lots of entrees are served with pineapple – lined with tiki-style sculptures of various departed rock stars. (You haven’t lived until you’ve seen Tiki Elvis or Tiki Kurt Cobain.)*

Plenty of things within the park that seem a bit bizarre - The Eagles 'Life in the Fast Lane' roller coaster, not to mention the Led Zepellin coaster, or the Moody Blue's Nights in White Satin - the Trip, which is a tunnel-in-love type ride, or the Magic Mushroom Garden -- all in a family-friendly park.

As far as I can tell, there is no Martin Denny section.

If I haven't lived until I've seen the Kurt Cobain tiki, maybe I don't want to live.

All in all, I still prefer my Ozzy Osbourne Buddha statue.

There are pictures!

Sort of an A-Frame

The buildings look like "tikis"!

The following page has a video that includes footage of the Paradise Grill (where Polynesian flavored food will be served) - they have a few seconds of the tiki carvings in the clip.

I'm pretty sure the following four rock tikis are from the Paradise Grill

Elsewhere in the park, here is a section that features the Tiki Gods of Rock together.
