Hi all,

[I posted part of this message in the welcome thread, but it seems to only display oldest to newest so I'm reposting here with some additions...sorry for the double-post]

I'm new here but TC looks like a fun bunch...reminds me of when the LEGO community first got online in decent numbers back in '95 / '96...but I digress.

Anyway, I'm looking for a few specific things and in general just looking and reading and enjoying.

First, is there a resource somewhere (a directory?) of people who are 'known' for being good tiki carvers?

Second, is there a similar listing somewhere of tiki bars that can be purchased? I've seen the same three or four pop up in quite a few places but am looking for something different / bigger / more elaborate (for an upcoming venture).

I'm amazed at how MUCH tiki stuff goes up for sale on eBay...my SpyScanner account has found over 2000 items in the last 10 days...and that's excluding all of the Tiki Barber stuff that's on there (I have those filtered out).

Anyway, I've purchased a couple of Rain's painting recently (little guys...missed some bigger ones that I had bid on in the past week, darnit) and the little diorama that Tikifish had up there (a gift to a buddy of mine) and then found TC this morning and was amused to see those items referred to in the boards.

ALSO...and this is a big Also...anybody know where I can find any more of the Maruri 'The Tropics' collection pieces? I still need the Hana Hideaway and would also like to find another Baja Surfer. Thanks in advance!

So hello from me to you and thanks in general for the existence of TC!

Welcome aboard Sixer. Maybe this will help you out in regards to the TC carvers. They are as follows...Gecko ([email protected]), Crazy Al ([email protected]) and myself Chiki ([email protected])Any other carvers put your name in the hat, cause there are some talented carvers here at TC. Good luck on the other questions A-Sixer. ps... Is Malibu an area that you'd be looking at?

Thanks for the welcome and the carver info. I wasn't sure what you were referring to in your PS, though...area that I'd be looking at? Sorry...long week so my brain isn't as sharp as it should be. Time for a Mai Tai, right?! :)

I am the Tiki Central weapons specialist...see "Carving Post" topic on main board for the work of many of us.

P.S. Did you used to fly A-6 Intruders?

A Sixer, Yes, I meant if Malibu was an area that you might consider doing business in? Or are you strictly looking at existing tiki bars?

It's actually not for a tiki bar (I wish!).

Ben,

Who doesn't need a custom tiki bar?! :)

I tried to click on your homepage icon here in the thread but the address must be munged as it tried to take me to "http://tiki/" which of course didn't go anywhere.

So let me know your site address so I can check out your stuff!

A6,
No web as of a few years now. A new one will be up soon. In the mean time, fax works the best. If you have ideas of your "Ideal Custom Tiki Bar" send them on over. Simple line drawings and a few measurments are just fine.
