I see our neighbors to the north and south have put together some great crawls.
but a search for one in our area didn't seem to show anything.
Has one been done in the past?
Would anyone be interested in a home bar tour in the Los Angeles area?

sure. I would.

I'm down!! Maybe one of the stops could be...."Spermy's Blowhole".

That would have to be the last stop. Spermy's got such a nice home bar, GROG doubt anybody would want to leave to go any others after that.

what he said,
i'd be down for a OC stop,
but somebody would have to bartend here, as I can't mix worth a s**t.

I would come up from Sun Diego for a peek at some home bars....

Could probably fit a band in our shop.........

We were on the NW Tiki Crawl and would love to do again now that we are in LA. We would just need to get our tiki bar started/ finished.

M

Ok , I'll take the Tiki by the horns so to speak and get this tour rolling.
I have a line on an open top double decker bus that can lug us around the tour.
I need 4 home bars for a 6 hour tour on a Saturday evening in late July early August.
If you would like to volunteer your home bar or nominate a friend's home bar send me a PM.
For this first tour I would like to base it in the Los Angeles area to make the time
travel between bars minimal. Though site seeing on double decker bus would be fun,
I think it should be more about the home bars than the bus ride.
This crawl should be a fun way to view and show off the tiki creativity that lurks
unseen in the dens, basements, and backyards of some of our L.A. ohana.

Way to go Murph!

That would be too cool!

Murph,
I pm'd you.

That sounds like a blast! :)

WooHoo! Sounds like fun :)

I'm working out the Tour details but I need leads on home bars.
anyone?... anyone?... Bueller?... Bueller?

Murph...depending on when it's gonna be....I think I'll have mine up and running in October. It won't be perfect, but it will be functioning!

Hi CheekyGirl,
I'm shooting for the end of July/early August so you might not be ready by then but we need plenty of tour crawlers attending to make this work!
As a side, if anyone wants to volunteer any mad skills that they think can help with the tour please let me know.

Murph -- I've got MAD organizational Skills, I'm willing to assist!

Well, my home tiki bar is more of a Tiki podium, but I do have mad drinking skills! Sign us up for two crawlers - this is perfect timing as we are thinking of moving, and I need ideas for a home tiki lounge! Thanks!

H

I am in, (crawler). I speak several languages, I can translate?!? :) :) :drink:

Sounds great to me. I just need the exact date to make sure the Mrs and myself are available.

As my better half said, after participating in Portland's NW Tiki Crawl we're hooked.

There's nothing so thrilling as having a bus-load of 60 friends and strangers arrive at once and trying to get them all beveraged up within the first 5 minutes. I've perfected my recipe for Mai-Tai's for 60. So we'd be pleased to open our bar to the home tour in LA. Let us know the dates and we will confirm our availability.

H

OMG, this is the first time since I have been on TC that someone from SFV is having a home tour. I am sure Cheeky Girl will be thrilled also. How fun!

M'kay, so how many folks are interested in attending a home bar tour in LA?

How many home bars do we have in the valley? West side? Orange County?

With gas heading over $5/gal we will need some cost effective tranportation.
Perhaps Cruzan white Rum could be used to fuel a tourbus....or maybe that's what bacardi is for, it may be cheaper soon

Best
Mark

OK! This looks like it is going to be for real!!
Several of you have come on board to help (all with excellent ideas) Thanks!
And several bar owners have expressed a desire to participate. Double Thanks!

We've got a few details to work out so stay tuned!

Still room for home bars and organizational help
so if you would like to be part of
the First Annual LA Tiki Home Bar Tour committee
(will look great on your resume if you plan on running for political office)
send me a PM.

Mahalo,
Murph

Just got back with a car full of bamboo from Oceanic Arts and we are getting to work!!

Ok, It's been 3 days is the bar done? Pictures? :D

Here! Wish my bar would have been completed by then but, I'm not gonna make the deadline. I do want to be included in the crawl. Count me in!! :)

Let me know when so I can buy plane tix from Seattle!

This sounds great. I'm in Hermosa Beach. Please count me in! :) Thnx!

S

Boyfriend and I are in as crawlers! We're in El Segundo.
Can't wait to see the home bars! And taste your wares.
hee.

T

My partner and I are totally good at crawling! Count us in for this event! Er... has an official date been set?

Did the plans for this completely shrivel up? This should really happen before the end of summer especially if the double decker bus is going to be the main mode of transportation. I threw out the idea of ending it with a sunset luau on the beach at my house.

Aloha nui loa

Jeff(bigtikidude)

I'm working furiously on the bar to get it ready.
Last time I spoke with Murph all was going well.

M

Murph is getting things lined up still but the plans sound pretty cool so far.
