What do you call this type of ceiling thatch/matting?

Pages: 1 3 replies

I spotted this braided lauhala-like stuff kinda hanging in the ceiling at the Kon Tiki in Tucson when I was there last month.

Me wanty for my home bar!

But if I were to call up Oceanic Arts and ask them to ship some of it up, what do I call it? I know I saw it there shortly afterward, but I neglected to ask.

Thanks for any help.

I'm of no help in the naming department.

However, Bamboo Hardwoods in Seattle carries thin sheets of woven bamboo you can stain (or not), it's super easy to put up with staples, and looks fantastic! It might be cheaper to ship too. Just an option to ponder!

Mine is woven in a different way, but you get the idea.

They look like a product called "Neou Panels" . I think they're about 1' x 6'.

Buzzy Out!

That's the info I was looking for! Thanks muchly Bay Park Buzzy!

Oh and thanks for yr info too TWahine. BTW: How's your tiki room coming along? I don't think I've seen a progress pic in a while.
