Welcome.

Located in an old Victorian corner building, Hukilau is a fine local watering hole. While the decor is sparse, and the Tikis Tend to be of the Indonesian bought at O.S.H. Varitey, the food, drinks and service keep me coming back for more.

Indeed.

Entry Tiki.

I do wish that they would go full blown on the decor, but I do enjoy their Mai Tais and Hukilau punch.

Mai Tai

Hukilau Punch.

There is a sad lack of Jamaican rums on the bar back shelf, with it mostly consisting of Bacardi, the bartenders usually seem to pull off a tasty powerful drink when I've been there.

While not the dream tiki bar one always hopes for, this place is good eats, and good drinks at a reasonable price. So I'm supporting them and going back when I get the chances to.

And I just loved how this simple under-appreciated mug photographed there, so heres some of this one!

The San Francisco Hukilau closed in April 2012. See this web page for more information;

There are two other Hukilau locations remaining, one in San Jose and one in Honolulu.

I visited the SF Hukilau about a month before it closed and I remember it being alright. It was a Hawaiian plate-lunch type place but with a full bar including mixed-drinks, and some understated tiki décor.

Come to think of it, the Royal Hawaiian in Laguna Beach also closed down about a month after I made it there for the first time. Maybe I should stop going to these places!
