How Well Do You Know your Los Angeles New Wave & Punk bands?

Pages: 1 32 replies

I found this book at a garage sale titled "Sixty Years of Photography from the Los Angeles Times". Inside was this two-page photo spread of New Wave bands from Los Angeles, taken August 1979.

How many of the bands can you identify? I have to tell you at the start, that I don't have the answers. The book didn't give any names of individual bands. I can identify band #12, but as to the others I have no clue. I thought the combined knowledge of TC might be able to identify them all. Hell, Vintage Girl might be able to identify them all on her own.

Here are the close-ups of each band:

Band #4
Alley Cats
one of my favs back then

Band #2
The Plugz
Two of their songs El Clavo Y La Cruz and Hombre Secreto help to make the Repo Man soundtrack so great!

Awesome, Guys.

I've added names and video links for those banks to my first post.

I had to ask a friend but #9 is The Alice Bag Band.

#12 is the band X.

I'm surprised that I blew right past em but #5 is The Motels.

#7 is The Screamers

Why isn't this finished already?

That's half of them. I have a feeling you guys are going to get them all.

N

#3 is The Heaters.

Thanks, Naneki.

If anyone can find a decent video link of The Heaters performing back in their heyday, please post it.

Sabu

the Motels are playing tonight at the LA County Fair, along with The Bangles and Berlin.

No, I will not be going.
