1960s R&B - Any fans on here?

Pages: 1 8 replies

One of my many interests is late 1950s thru to 1960s R&B.

The real gritty fun dancy stuff, not the "Done Woke Up This Mornin', To Find Myself Dead" kind of R&B.

Any other fans?

Any event that you could recommend?

Here's an event that I'm involved in running, it maybe a little too late for anyone to get to this time, but i'll post a review up after, maybe some links to music, if there's enough interest...

I love the BLUES BROTHERS, does that count?

I mostly listen to Soul Town (channel 53) on my Sirius Radio. Then Pure Jazz, Chill and Seriously Sinatra.

Not sure what will happen when a true merge of XM and Sirius occurs. I hope Vegas Vics shows up.

Bring back Jackie Wilson!

i too, like R&B/Soul, from just about anytime before 1980 ~ i get my old music fix via XM Radio.

we did get to see The Funk Brothers live a few years ago..

and if this counts, i loved The Commitments!

i suppose there's a chance to see folks like Smokey Robinson, Tops, Temps at Indian Casinos ~ but i'd rather just enjoy the playlist on satilite radio!

do you get many R&B singers touring the UK?

If you have a chance to pick up a Sharon Jones CD, DO IT! If you get a chance to see her in concert, DO IT! Smokin' hot, old school R&B!

I listen to a lot of soul and funk from the 1960's and 1970's. I like everything from James Brown to Sly & the Family Stone.

Definately not from the 60's, but I love these guys and their influences; Sam and Dave, Booker T and the MGs, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and of course Wayne Cochran and the CC Riders!
