just scored on a cd called "mondo exotica" and i just love it!. my pop was a hard hitting -big time jazz guy for 40 years, played with all the big bands and scored alot of tv.but this stuff would cause him to probably disown me!. the only trump card i hold is he did a version of "hawaiian war chant" on one of his albums, so i guess he cant give me too much sass in the herafter!.what is the BEST exotica cd out there?.

Mondo Exotica is one of the best, as far as variety goes, becuase it's a compliation.

My favorite is Eden's Island, and Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman, and Les Baxter (his exotica stuff) is good.

Check out this link here, it's my rundown of my favorite Exotica on CD:

Mondo Exotica is fabulous, and is my favorite of all the Ultra Lounge series (with Bachelor Pad Royale being a very close second).

There are also plenty of good Exotica CDs available from Martin Denny, Les Baxter, Arthur Lyman, and a few others (certainly not enough), but very few compilations. I have a couple from Del-Fi Records, which yield a few good tracks, but they don't approach the level of excellence found on Mondo Exotica (or the usual greatness of their Surf compilations).

I've started to collect original material on vinyl and convert it to CD/MP3. I recently scored the very rare White Goddess by Frank Hunter, as well as Eden's Island, and Exotica by Ted Auletta -- which I think is an absolutely fantastic album.

This is a fun and facinating genre of music, although it does tend to make me kinda thirsty for Mai Tai's......

Aloha,

Vic

I picked up that cd for two bucks at Music Trader years ago. It kinda kick started this whole thing for me.
I really like "Organs In Orbit" as well.
