Sunday Jan. 4 - Damon's brunch/In Search of Tiki exhibit

Pages: 1 19 replies

On Sunday, Jan 4th a group of us are going to Damon's for brunch at 11a.m., then going to enjoy the last day of the exhibit "In Search of Tiki" over at Forest Lawn Glendale. I spoke to Damon's and they're more than happy to accommodate a large party.

If you haven't seen the exhibit, it's really worth checking out before it's gone. If you have seen...time to see it again.

Come join us...what say you?

T

Cindy and I havent seen it yet and she loves excuses to go to Damons .There are a lot of heavy hitters in that exhibit and we are looking forward to enjoying it . Count us in . Do we need to make reservations or just show up at 11 ?

I'll be there for sure.

After the exhibit we can always go back to either Damon's for some cocktails,

or come back to my house for drinks.

I live minutes away.

I'm really sad to see this awsome exhibit close.

JB

I told Damon's to expect at least twenty of us, so no need to make reservations. If we start to get a really giant group, I'll let her know. Should be fun.

im in yummy drinks & ribs . Merry XmAS THE kIDS

besides tiki ti wouldnt not be open on a sun eve for after.

I seem to be the only still going to the other event. Hmm. I'll put in a vote for Saturday too. I just went to the Art show and Damon's last night. Both are awesome. Would love to go again if it was Saturday... but I have a date with a cocktail Sunday. Saturday hitting Damon's, the Gallery, then Tiki-Ti would be an awesome bermuda triangle to get lost in.

Damon's Brunch is only on Sunday.

If well get there at 11:00 do brunch for an hour or so, do the museum for an hour or so, We could all be downtown by 2:30.

Ah! Very true... does anyone know when Hula Girls is on at Redwood? That might just work.

that sounds great,
Brunch, art show, then Hula Girls at Redwood.
ok you talked me into Sun.

HULA GIRLS...

What is the start time for you guys ?

I wanna see you rock out Tiki style.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!!

I have been in touch with Douglas Nason and he is going to be at the
Exhibit on Sunday 4th , 3 pm , with drinks and dinner at Damon's after.
I hope that you are all able to attend.
Doug is such an awsome person. I met him at the exhibit during the Tiki workshop.
Please bring your friends and family to the closing day party.

Here is the e-mail I received from Douglas Nason:

"The In Search of Tiki exhibition will close on Sunday January 4th. This
exhibition will close with an informal walk-through presentation with
curators Douglas Nason and Jeff Fox at 3 PM. Participating artists and other
tiki aficionados' are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts on
their
work and the tiki art movement. When the museum doors close at 5 PM, we will
move on to the famous Polynesian themed Damon’s Steakhouse and celebrate
with further discussion and fun! Dinner and drinks are on your own"

I talked to Hillbilly Jeff who puts on the shows at the Redwood Bar in downtown LA and he said that the Hula Girls will either start at 1:30 or 2.
or if ok with the 2nd band switch places.
for those of us that want to do brunch, then the art show, then Hula Girls.

Everyone please see Maid Marion's official thread on this topic...I vote we all move to the new plan and times.

Aloha!

Ah! Sweet! Now I can hit all three in ease... woo hoo! See everyone at all three!

C

Are either of these (the 3pm closing or the 5:30pm dinner at Damon's) events requiring reservations or RSVP? If so I'd like to add Congawa+1 for both. (I will also try to catch Hula Girls beforehand.)

Dont forget to drop by to The Redwood Bar & Grill to see The Hula Girls, we just added The Atomic Three to Sunday's Brunch show too. Hope to see you there!
