There is a magazine called "Pattersons: The Tasting Panel" . It seems to be aimed at bar owners and Mail Carriers. Typically, it's full of uninteresting ads for some new, trendy, crappy liqueur and boring articles about how to make your bar more profitable. But the February issue has some redeeming quality. It features a nice article about Tiki's popularity being on the upswing blah, blah, blah. But the good part is it has some photos of Notch and the Ku Bar and some others at the SF Tiki Crawl. It also has some good info from Forbidden Island's Martin Cate. I'll try to post the article here:

Mail Carriers and bar owners, a demographic made in heaven. Cut from the same genetic cloth I say. Could we live without either? I recall way more postal workers in prospective jury pools than bar owners, though. They make fine jurors. Someday I hope to receive my mail in a bar, maybe sleep out back in a trailer. It's been done.

Not a bad article from what I could read. Great photo of the artist known as Notch. Looks as if the photog had a strict limit on his allowable exposures otherwise. Must be small art budget.

I'd give it higher marks but for the use of the term "kitsch".

Rum is for sipping?
