Hawaiian Carved Wood Perfume Containers

Nice little article in today's Honolulu Star Bulletin discussing carved wood perfume bottles produced from the '30s through the '60s:

Certainly more Hawaiiana than tiki, but there is a tiki bottle:

I'd never really thought about these perfume containers, although I have run across them. Always interesting to see what other collect.

Here's one of mine. I nice little hibiscus flower. The bud pulls out where the bottle is held.


If I run out I can refill it with a little of my wife's Wicked Wahine

That's really pretty Unc. Is this one of Gump's? Do you have more in your collection?

Here's my collection.
All are John Oya designs in monkey pod, milo or koa wood

Back Row: Angel Fish; Torch Ginger; Sea Horse
Front Row: Water Lily; Hibiscus/Anthurium (two sided)
Missing a few bottles and the wave cap for the angel fish.
