Pages: 1 2 replies

Anyone know who carved this tiki or totem as its called? - its for sale on ebay for charity - It has a name at the bottom. "Andelson" Maybe local Brazilian?

Just wondering - there is another one also - very similar..

Dear Friend,
What you have there is called "Carranca" and it is used in the Northeast part of Brazil. It is used to "scare" bad spirits and it is attached to the front part of boats. Let´s see... Here you have something in English http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carranca.
The one you have there is a beautiful one without colors.
Here you have a picture of the most commons in Brazil. I used to live in Rio de Janeiro for nine years and I can tell you that even there they have them behind their doors. (Rio is in the Center South part of Brazil)

Hope that this works for you.
HUGS,
Sebas

I would not call it either of those terms. That just plain looks like some scary shit right there. Gonna drive something evil off for sure. Nice work for sure. What kind of wood is that?
