Here's another great example of how the Polynesian craze spread. In 1964 the Inter County Telephone and Telegraph Company built the new North Naples exchange building in a Polynesian style. Architects were Gundersen and Wilson of Ft. Myers. |

That actually looks more like the mansard/shingle roofs that became popular in the late 60s and 70s in California -- not what I would identify as Polynesian immediately. But they did, obviously, so that's what counts. No Tikis though. |
