Moai in Dingburg

Pages: 1 1 replies

I

Dingburg is the fictional city , created by cartoonist Bill Griffith, which is inhabited entirely by Pinheads .... and the home of Zippy the Pinhead.

Griffith recently released an aerial view/drawing of Dingburg - and right there in the center of the image, in the heart of downtown, is a Giant-sized golden Easter Island Moai head.

One can purchase this print by going to the Zippy the Pinhead site at
http://zippythepinhead.com , then go to the Zippy store, and Zippy Art catalog.

Vern

Thanks for the heads-up, Vern.

Bill Griffith has used Moai many times in Zippy's world.

Griffith is actually quoted in "Big Stone Head" (from an email exchange that he and I had) about Zippy's relationship with the moai.

Griffith really gets the concept of the moai as a global pop culture meme, a building block of our popular consciousness.

A moai appears on the cover of "Zippy Annual 2002", in the context of a trailer park lawn ornament.

The Magic Carpet Golf moai from Arizona (now at The Hut bar) appears in Zippy cartoons as well, and so does the moai outside of the Timex Museum in New England.

Go poke through some Zippy books for more moai sightings, or check out "Big Stone Head" (www.bigstonehead.com).
