One thing I will say about the LA Trader Vic's is they really do seem to try to bring in entertainment that while maybe not what a lot of people expect from a tiki place (ie, exotica, surf, etc), they do seem to make an effort to keep a Hawaiian/Polynesian connection with most of the acts. I would think it can't be easy to bring in something that will appeal to the masses and yet not veer too far from the restaurant's "concept."
