Tiki Doo Wop

Not exotic harmonizing, just some classic NY style Doo Wop by A Cappella masters the Delmonicos for a Poly Pop inspired record label.
Great song and great (probably “borrowed”) tiki graphics I wanted to share.

that tiki is actually from the aku aku stardust casino in vegas....it's featured on all their token slot coins..there's a few on ebay as i write this....interesting.

There were a couple of more or less exotic Doo Wops throughout the 50s, but mostly of a caribbean, african or latin theme.

What a cool label! Wish I would have seen that for my Aku Aku pages in my CD booklet.

Another vocal group that maybe fits in this topic is Los Zafiros, from La Habana.

His music is 50´s Doo Wop but with an Afro-Cuban and latino added twist. Like a lot of things in Cuba their music has been frozen for several decades.
Most of their records were produced in Cuba under state run Areito label. Great exotico record label art.

Anyone knows about Los Zafiros or is their music under embargo in the
U.S? :)

I love Los Zafiros. They have a powerful style. I also discovered other latin vocal groups from the era via YouTube. It’s like a third leg between the rhythm’n’blues groups like the Cadillacs and the italians like Dion & The Belmonts.
