My husband and I are traveling to the Big Island for the first time. We will be up in the Kohala Coast area the 6, 7 and 8th. In Hilo the 9th and 10th with some side trips to VNP, then the Royal Kona for the 11th, 12th and 13th. We would love to meet up with any local TC'ers there for a cocktail and some friendly conversation or if any Mainland TC'ers are traveling to Hawaii let me know. Maybe we can enjoy an excursion together! We would also love some tips on local entertainment. Hawaiian music, etc. |

So you're going in July? Me and Mrs. Bungalow will there in April. Staying at the Hilton Waikoloa Resort and will have a car to get OUT of the resort and see Hawaii. (Don't mean to put down the Hilton, but this place sounds huge and crowded, I'm more of a nature/history guy.) |

Nope we will be there in February in about a week. Yes I agree we didn't want to stay there after reading some reviews that said it took 45 minutes just to get to your room. However many people seem to love it especially enjoying the grounds. Have a great time! |

Thanks, and you too. I'm a big jogger/hiker, so all the distance of the place won't bother me much, I think. I know I won't wait around for a shuttle. I hope you'll post some stories after your trip. |

Aloha, Bewitched By Tiki! Betcha you're counting the hours, now -- right? I know you guys will love it! If you enjoy browsing through forum-style posts for similar interests -- try here and here for the two best (and most friendly and informative) "all questions answered" websites! Oh, and if you enjoy slack key guitar, you will really love the music of John Keawe -- a Kohala resident, if he is playing locally... The Yoo-hoo's will be vacationing and toasting life on Maui in the Middle of March. (We hope to have a WHALE of a time...) :) And Bongo Bungalow -- hope you guys have a blast, too! I always pack my running shoes for Hawaii, as well! The Big Island is absolutely a treat to jog around on! Although for me -- Maui is the least enjoyable of the islands for running due to the opressive muggi-ness in the early mornings -- but I'll just have to deal with that one tiny imperfection in Paradise this trip?! :D Have fun everyone!! Aloha Bewitched by Tiki! We're going to be on the Big Island for a few days starting the 7th, staying in Kona. We'd be up for a meetup, did you have a particular time/place in mind? |

How was your trip? Matt & I booked the Royal Kona for a few days this winter. How was the hotel?? Could you walk to downtown? We booked a corner king ocean room in Alii Tower. I haven't stayed in Kona before and I'm curious about the hotel. We're going basically to do a helicopter tour over the volcano. Matt has tried to see lava twice and both times, no luck (on our honeymoon, 17 years of continuous lava flow stopped 4 days before we got there because of an earthquake in Turkey). The second time they said lava was flowing into an area of the park that was off limits to the public (private land). So, this time, we take no chances!! Then we'll head off to Kauai for the week (haven't been there before). If anyone has info on Kauai, let me know :) Hope you had a fabulous trip!! I love Hawaii! |
