Graphic Artist Needed for Comic Book Shop Print Work

Q: Who are we?
A: Double Danger Comics & Collectibles

After working a combined 18 years in the comic book field my brother (Sage Spirtos) and I (Jayson Spirtos) finally decided to throw our hats into the ring and start our own comic book shop, Double Danger Comics & Collectibles. We will be selling everything from classic comic books to tiki mugs. Our shop is currently under construction in snowy Uptown Minneapolis, Minnesota and are looking to open by late February. While hammers and nails are flying we're busy searching for graphic artists to do some odds n' ends for us, mainly our print work (postcards, bookmarks, business cards, etc.).

Q: What do we want?
A: Gift Certificate Artwork

We would like a gift certificate that stands out as it's own piece of artwork. A special keepsake that will make our customers laugh and share with friends. Something that will stick in their minds and make them come back for more.

As artwork goes we would like you to make it all your own (we are both fans of Rat Fink/Aurora Model Kit/Rockabilly/Classic Horror Movies/Tiki/Cheesy Sci-Fi/Mid-Centery Space-Age Kitsch/1950-60 Pop Culture). Basically we would like to see what the title 'Double Danger' means to you (check out our main and children's logos @ http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=488082716&albumId=70728 to see what other artists have done).

Gift Certificate Guidelines

Must Have Text:
• Double Danger Comics & Collectibles (main title)
• 818 West Lake Street, Minneapolis MN 55408 (address)
• 616.824.1692 (phone number, not up yet)
http://www.doubledangercomics.com (website)

Special Text & Blank Fields:
• To ('To' text with large space following)
• From ('From' text with large space following)
• Amount (large '$' symbol with large space following)
• Date Issued ('Issued' text with small space)
• Certificate Number ('#' symbol with small space following)

Also...
• Print will be one sided.
• All text and blank fields need to be incorporated into the artwork.
• Gift certificate must fit inside a standard business envelope (4 1/8" x 9 1/2").
• Print will be B&W or three-four colors max (maybe blue, orange, cream), with the lightest being the paper color/grain (maybe off-white).
• Blank fields will be filled in 'at time of purchase' though must be clear enough to signified 'what goes where' for employee's ease.
• Simple one color 'Gift Envelope' artwork would be a plus (a variation of the GC Artwork with room to place sender's address and stamp).

Here's a competitors (Meltdown Comics) Gift Certificate we liked a lot to give you a rough idea what we're looking for:

Does this sound like a project you would be interested in?

If so then please email me ([email protected]) with artwork samples, estimated production time and pricing.

Respectfully,
