Great pic although I don't think that MM in hula attire is particularly Exotic or Tiki. MM is significant in that she was a major sex symbol during the peak of Tiki during the early 1960's. I consider this her most iconic performance when she sang "Happy Birthday" to JFK (when she wasn't "blowing out his candles" in private). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqolSvoWNck&feature=related Was her suspicious death somehow connected to her affairs with both Kennedy brothers? That remains a great mystery (conspiracy?) during that golden age of Tiki. |
