I am so there .I have seen both of these bands front row a half a dozen times
in the 80's .Sounds like a fun gig Spike .Now if we could get Brian Setzer and
the Stray Cats to play again , that would be something.

BTW, for those of you that normally hit Trader Vic's on Thursdays, I'd highly recommend avoiding the crowds (definite), street closures (definite), roadblocks (definite), police presence (definite), and riots (most likely...) and coming down to beautiful Redondo and checking out the Hula Girls show instead. (Need a mai tai fix, you say? Well, when was the last time you went to Old Tony's? Open til midnight after the show!)

Don't worry, Vic's will be there next week - this incredible show won't!

Thanks, Doc! Quite the endorsement. We'll see ya tonight!

TM

That's right! Tonight only! The fabulous Hula Girls Band, celebrating 25 years of "Bone in" music! Bring your Vuvuzelas 'cause it's LADIES NIGHT!

What a great show! Mahalo guys, you rocked it out once again!

Here's a couple clips for y'all who couldn't make it to the clam bake:

The Hula Girls - The Curse Of The Tiki

Note to self, filming in front of the drum kit does not make for the best sound quality, lol! Lesson learned.

I also caught the opening act Graceland Mafia - Jet Black Hair

Again, Awesome night! Rad Venue! Cool Pals! The Hula Girls with Hula Girls! Killer!

Cheers,

Chris

What a night!

Got started with a couple of Mai Tai's at Tony's on the Pier with Tikiyaki Jim

As day became night we got all got a hankerin' for somethin' sweet so went to go scratch that itch --

On to the show! The Hula Girls were in top from as usual

Tikiyaki Jim sits in on Volcano!

The band was kind enough to give Chris and I hand screened and band signed drum skins straight from Dominic Tucci's snare drum! Thanks guys -- they're freaking RAD!

Such a fun show last night. I was really happy to see a bunch of our TC friends out on a Thursday night, with the NBA finals going on! Bonger looked KILLER in those rolled up jeans and Junior Brown hat! So rad!! And Jim sitting in on Volcano was super cool too! He nailed the song without even preparing to do it live! Thanks for the pics, Pop!

I had screen burning issues for the poster that I printed for this one... After fixing the problem, I'll be pulling screens tonight to try and get them done. I'll post pics and make them available for purchase, as soon as they are finished!

Great show last night guys...
I know it's biased to say, but the Hula Girls were by far the best band of the night.
Mix that with a Tony's Mai Tai overlooking the ocean, fish tacos, and a little bongo cameo, and it was good time.

TM

All in all, a fun way to spend a Thursday night! When I got to Tony's, there were the boys! (Jim, Poly and Dr. Z!) enjoying Mai-Tais with a harbor view! We all went and had ice cream, (as documented in the photos above) and ran into C-Al!. And believe it or not, this was my first time at the redondo pier!

Yes, good friends, good tunes, good times!

Pop, I hope you can make it out to our neck of the woods more often - Tony's seemed to be to your liking!

Hey, HOW ARE the mai tais there? I have a bunch of mai tai glasses from there, but I've never actually had a drink at Tony's.

.....and thanks a bunch, Jim!!

sorry I missed it,
if it was Fri.(tonight) I would have been there.

The Mai Tai's at Tonys are not amazing, no where near a Trader Vics or Dons Mai Tai.
but damn they are strong, and not overtly sweet.

They are alright... not the best, and definitely from some cheap mix. The best part about them are the souvenir glasses imo!
