Hotel near Tiki-Ti

Pages: 1 7 replies

AceyTiki and I will be making out first trip to Tiki-Ti on our way back from Tiki Oasis. If what we've heard is true and I believe it is, we shouldn't be driving after we are there. We were hoping to find a hotel near by. Something cheap, but not scary. Any ideas? My search on-line hasn't turned up much.

A Tiki motel no less. I knew all my hard work wouldn't go to waste. :)

Cab-able.

Or if you must be within stumbling distance, try this place. It's less than half a mile away....

Thanks. I'll look into those.

Most people who come to LA and want to be close to Tiki-Ti stay at the Travelodge mentioned above.

Although John-O writes a good post, as a native Angeleno, I must say: DO NOT STAY AT the Royal Hawaiian.

Plan of visiting - repeatedly - the Purple Orchid, and stay by the water, maybe at the Marina Del Rey hotel:

The MDR Hotel also is not too far from Trader Vics Lounge @ Beverly Hilton.

The nicest hotels by Tiki Ti are Downtown, about a 10-15 min. drive. As a bonus, you will be walking distance to Trader Vics @ LA Live (and also to the Music Center where South Pacific is performing).

I recommend the Biltmore:

For a happening pool scene, and to be basically across the street from Trader Vics, stay at the Hotel Figueroa:

Each of these have rooms which start at approx $150.00.

Well the Royal Hawaiian MIGHT be a roach motel, but it IS vintage Poly-Pop. If you're a hard-core Tikiphile then that's the trade-off. (FYI, I noticed ChrisTiki edited out his/her "roach motel" comments. Good job :)).

If your typical standards are Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons then you might consider the Travelodge a "roach motel", but I think it's pretty representative of the chain in offering clean budget accommodations.

Also for out-of-towners, if you're going to be in the vicinity of Tiki-Ti, do not miss Griffith Park Observatory and/or Wacko/Soap Plant - http://www.yelp.com/biz/wacko-los-angeles#query:wack%20soap%20plant. Soap Plant would be on the walk home from Tiki-Ti to Travelodge. You'll love it.

Also I recommend El Chavo next door to Tiki-Ti to service your Mexican drunk food needs.

El Tres Inn, above the El Chavo Mexican restaurant, next door to Tiki Ti.

Thanks, everyone. I'll take a look at all of this.
