I posted this in the old thread, but it makes more sense here and I'll up the anty. I'm going to be in Moorea (island next to Tahiti) doing research for two months starting Sept 15. If I gave someone in the bay area, who preferably lives in SF or Oakland, a wish list and a budget, could they pick some stuff up for me. |

So, what's the best/cheapest hotel to stay at nearby? The Days Inn? Any suggestions ? |

The Days Inn has some cool Googie architecture, but sadly, is pretty sketchy. A nicer hotel experience and a little more spendy (I think) would be: Coral Reef Inn & Suites Marina Village Inn |

I'm very excited to be vending again at this year's Forbidden Island Parking Lot Sale. I have a ton of vintage aloha wear and accessories as well as additional clothing by Sandy Bottom (Portland), Chick-A-Boom Vintage (Petaluma), Pineapple Princess (Oakland), and Christine Kiesling (Oakland). There will be a veritable clothing explosion on our patio right when you walk out the back door of the bar. Also be sure to visit the booths of two more amazing vintage clothing vendors: Fab Gab Vintage (Portland) and Raw Vintage (Vallejo), both will be located under the main tent. |

Fab Gabs is excited to be coming back a second year with a bigger booth! I will, of course, have lots of bright colored barkcloth, but there's some fabulous 50's pieces waiting to be enjoyed too! Here's a few previews of some of my favorite items. Shaheen: Surfriders (silk!): Tiana Pittelle: And Kamehameha. LOVE this wild print! I'll be bringing lots of women's tiki/aloha dresses from the 60s and 70s also, good gal's stuff from the 40's-early 60's, and some men's tiki shirts and good vintage rockabilly wear. If you're not already familiar with my shop, you can find it on etsy by going to http://www.fabgabs.com (it will forward you). I look forward to drinking w |

Thank you to Mike and Forbidden Island for hosting this event today. If you know me in real life you know that life has been super challenging lately so selling at the sale today really helped me out in many ways--like I can pay my rent :) Thanks to Psycho Tiki D and his wife Tiki Hammer for being the best booth mates ever. We really needed a bigger booth--I can not believe we fit so much stuff into our space...craziness. Lake Tiki I love my Tiki Bob carving and it was awesome to meet you and your lovely wife in person. You are so talented and the tiki community here is lucky to have you in it. Tobunga....always a pleasure to see you and Manuel...I love my Tiki Bob picture soooooooooooo much! (Seriously if you dont own artwork by Eric October by now dont ever talk to me again--his work is epic!) Thank you TC members for your purchases and multiple mai tais ....always appreciated! If you didnt come today you really missed out...fabulous event all around. Mahalos!! |
