Need Help Identifying This Tiki Restaurant

Pages: 1 4 replies

I picked up this old photo of a Tiki restaurant located in Florida. The name of the restaurant was apparently "Tiki" and the photo was taken during Christmas of 1961.

Here is a close up of the sign and the Tiki on the rounded A-Frame entrance.

I don't remember seeing this one before. Anybody got any info?

No idea. What a great mystery!

Very few Tiki temples were actually simply called "Tiki".

The entrance's roof reminds of the Kon-Tiki Montreal, the Mauna Loa Detroit, and the Kona Kai philly...and this British movie set:

That's a great find Dusty. I don't recognize it. I'm really amazed at how many forgotten Florida Tiki themed establishments have been brought to light here over the years. And there's so little information on them and practically no artifacts. :(

Good point Bigbro, hadn't really thought of that. I remember the Tiki in Old Tappan, New Jersey.

But I digress, on with the mystery of the "Tiki Restaurant".

I bet the owners (forgot their names) of the Mai Kai would know.
