Hukilau 2011 Room Crawl thread

We hope you're ready to 'Rock-A-Hula' with this year's Room Crawl at the Hukilau's 10th Anniversary!

We looked at how we could follow up on the huge success of last year's Hukilau Room Crawl, '2010: A Cocktail Odyssey', and we think we might have found the answer.

This year's Room Crawl will pay tribute to Elvis, the King himself, and his MANY movies and the songs featured in them!

Those interested in hosting rooms are encouraged to select either one of the King's many films, or any of the songs from the film's soundtracks - a huge scope and selection to choose from as the theme for their rooms and cocktail creations!

We're looking to add even more rooms to the mix this year, so make sure you let us know ASAP IF you're interested in hosting a room at the Cabana this year.

Interested potential hosts should email us at [email protected] to let us know you're interested, along with film/song you'd like to use as the theme of your room.

We'll try not to allow duplicate films/song themes, so it'll be first-come, first dibs on the choice of films and movie themes!

The battle has been joined!

Last year's Hukilau '2010: A Cocktail Odyssey' Room Crawl Cocktail Concoction winner - 'Gaughin's Grotto' - has entered the fray and is returning this year once again to defend their crown!

Who's going to step up and wrestle the crown from these savages?

This year's Room Crawl promises even more fun and creativity, as room hosts will be choosing their room and cocktail creation themes from over 30 Elvis film titles, and the scores and scores of songs from their soundtracks!

If you're interested in showing off YOUR creative room decor and mixology skills, join in the fun as a room host at the 10th Anniversary of Hukilau!

Email us at roomcrawl@thehukilau to let us know if you're interested in hosting, in addition to providing us with your proposed room theme! First come/first served on choice of films/song themes!

We also put aside a block of rooms at the Bahia Cabana for those interested in hosting, so also let us know if you need accommodations in the heart of the Hukilau action!

Information on our cocktail contest, The Hukilau 10th Anniversary Cocktail Challenge, is on a separate thread here:

We're looking for contestants now!

Here's a helpful link if you're suffering from creative mental block regarding your Room Crawl theme options.

Here's a short Washington Post synopsis of all 31 Elvis films, and two concert films: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/style/longterm/elvis/epfilms.htm which includes a brief overview, along with the top songs from the soundtracks.

You can also choose any song from all the soundtracks of each film as your inspiration, giving you a world of additional options to choose from.

Contact us at [email protected] if you're interested in being a host this year!

There's still opportunity for you to host a room at this year's Rock-A-Hula Hukilau Room Crawl and reserve a room at the Bahia Cabana from the small block we reserved for Room Crawl hosts!

Contact us at [email protected] if you're up to the challenge!

We're gonna have a Barrel 'O Fun at this year's Master Mixologist Challenge, which will precede the Room Crawl poolside at the Bahia Cabana.

Jeff "Beachbum" Berry and the "Rum Rat Pack" are confirmed as special guest judges!

Really cool men!!

In response to feedback from potential Room Crawl hosts regarding concerns about hosting Room Crawl rooms due to the popularity of last year's Crawl and the seeming crush of guests upon rooms, we've made some changes to this year's Crawl to help alleviate those concerns. This includes pushing the Crawl back later in the evening, after the scheduled Thursday night festivities conclude (including the entertainment lineup and Master Mixologist Cocktail Challenge) and opening all rooms simultaneously to ease the burden on single rooms.

However, even with these changes, we haven't had enough response from potential Room hosts yet to not inundate those that have already agreed to host rooms this year. We've also put aside a block of rooms at the Bahia Cabana reserved for potential Crawl hosts that are yet to be booked (and we have a waiting list of people looking to reserve rooms there).

This being the case, unless we receive commitments from additional room hosts in the next week, we may have to make additional changes to the Crawl, and revert to the old ways of the Room Crawl, where host rooms opened to primarily friends and those 'in the know' and used 'word of mouth and insider information' to know of where the 'late night action is'.

This will serve as the 'last call' for additional room hosts so that we can make the necessary changes in advance and release the room block for those waiting to reserve rooms.

If you're interested in hosting a room and reserving a room from the remaining available rooms before they're released, contact us ASAP at [email protected]

We hope that we receive sufficient response to make this year's crawl even better than last year's big success, but it's up to YOU to make it happen!

There's still time to host a room at this year's Rock-A-Hula Room Crawl and compete for top cocktail concoction and room decor.

Contact us at [email protected] if you're interested in joining the party!

This year's Room Crawl has evolved some since we started planning it, but rest assured the party's ON! One week from tonight. Drink your coffee. It's going to be a late night!

Is the room crawl still on?
I was just perusing the schedual and don't see it listed as an activity anymore.
The room crawl is our favorite event! Please say it's still a go!!!
