It’s a simple task…make 10 tiki drinks as fast as humanly possible. Mixology all stars from 1534, Painkiller and El Cobre competed.

Basically every bartender in NYC (and some from out of town) worth their salt got their heads shrunk at Otto's Shrunken Head last night at the UK-born tiki cocktail competition affectionately called: It's a Rematch!!!!! Beeyatch!!!!! 23 bartenders paid $100 each to the kitty and threw down in a race to make 10 tiki drinks in under four minutes. The winner took home all the money in the pot. In a heated battle full of drama, Scott Marshall (of 1534 and Boston's Drink) dazzled the judges by completing the task three minutes. He took home the loot and a cocktail tiara.

Local favorites Giuseppe Gonzalez (Painkiller) and Phil Ward (Mayahuel) were disqualified, Gonzalez for committing the ultimate party foul—breaking a glass in the ice—and Ward walked himself out, saying after he was "too drunk" to finish his round. We asked a few of the mixologists in the house what their winning strategies were. Jane Danger (El Cobre) advised "not crying" and Kenta Goto (Pegu Club) said he was sticking to a traditional Zombie recipe—but we secretly think it was having the crowd chant "Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto" during his round.
