This monday marks the opening of chicago's first land based casino - and it's right down the street from the hotel this event is held at, so anyone that feels like gambling a little on the c.a.t.t. tour weekend is gonna have a nice opportunity, Plenty of slot and table action.

Also, for those of you not too hung over, the famous wolf's fleamarket at the allstate arena will be open that sunday and it too is close to the hotel - (you'll need a car, it's a 5 minute drive) or have the hotel get you a cab over.

Just a couple more perks for you out of towners to enjoy !!

We've got some more very special CATT announcements coming-up, with the first one to come being that the CATT will be continuing in the tradition of Ohana Luau at the Lake & The Hot Rod Hula Hop by ensuring that we "give back" while having lots 'o fun!

On Sunday, the CATT will be having a very special raffle, with all proceeds going to Catnap from the Heart, a local kitty shelter!!

One of the prizes will be a fun & unique tiki mug shelf - complete with a starter collection of tiki mugs - made special for the CATT by DSK Designs - MEOW!!

We're looking to get tickets on sale by around mid-August & the ticket price will include...

  • Entry to Friday, Saturday & Sunday's tiki-riffic activities
  • Bus libations & transportation for Saturday
  • Pupus, Dinner, Dessert, Tip & Show at Tiki Terrace Saturday night (DO NOT call Tiki Terrace to make reservations - we will be handling the reservation only as one large group reservation)
  • A fun & fabulous SWAG Bag

Interest has been very strong for this event. We do anticipate selling out 2 full busses, so watch this space & our FB page for more info!!!

For anyone who may have missed the hotel info - here it is for easy reference: The host hotel is the aloft O'Hare. Use this link to get the special discounted rate for the CATT through September 9th: https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/StarGroupsWeb/booking/reservation?id=1104088815&key=81F49
As of yesterday afternoon, we were 2 rooms away from selling out our block of rooms, so we have added 10 more rooms to our block :D

And.....last, but not least.....when we put tickets up for sale, we'll also CATT mug pre-orders available for attendees, too - here's a sneak peek of the fabulous mug in progress from PopTiki of Colorado!

Flight and room booked!

SOOOOO excited!

BT

Room Booked,

Aloha!!!!!

Okay kids, here is the finished tiki shadow box for the C.A.T.T. tour raffle. As you know, it will be loaded with about 18 vintage mugs as well. No bullshit biglots or spencers mugs here .... this is gonna have mugs worth buying raffle tickets for in it, right ??

I included a picture of the train wreck vintage 50's shadow box I started with, which i stripped down to the basics and refinished from the ground up. Special touches included a light that is hidden in the planter box which casts light on the tiki mask. (mask is removable in case you win this and want to put a different mask on it other than the basic phillipines tiki mask i have installed). Also, I created a special F.O.M. support tiki which acts as the pillar to keep the shelf from possibly sagging under the weight of all those tiki mugs. The fez sports the FOM letters and the base has C.A.T.T. to commemorate this special event, that you will cherish for years to come.

enjoy!!

Indeed, very nicely done!

Hey, I have a question about the event:

I would love to attend, but for personal / family reasons there's no way I can do a three-day event.

But I live in the area, so I'm wondering if I'm allowed to just meet up with you all at one or two of the places (depending on timing), or if that's considered lawehala or otherwise uncool.

Cool Mug,Glad to see the fellow Chicago Tiki freaks making up a show like this.
Congrat's and Good Luck

Get the Hala Kahiki to come up with there own mug well you are at it.

Too bad you won't be able to join in the CATT FUN!!

& the CATT fun is only for CATT attendees - sorry about that :D

M E O W!!!!

Now that I live a mere 10 hour drive from Chicago, I may attempt to attend!

If my parents visit long enough to babysit that weekend, a gal pal and I might head down. Boy that would be swell!

I didn't mean for free or anything like that...just asking if I can "come and go" rather than being there for three days solid.

luki-

there are alot of good reasons to buying a ticket to take the tour-especially if you are not familiar with the area or are from out of town.... you get the goodie bag and mug as well as a guided tour and dinner. That's alot of value for the ticket price. But like you, We have alot on our plate that weekend and for a number of reasons, we will not be taking the tour per se. That said, we do plan on going to the chef that sunday to partake of the festivities and raffle for catnap. We also will be at the hotel friday nite. Many folks will be in from out of town and I hope to spend some time with them. I encourage you to at least stop by the chef on sunday to hang with us if you can. it's good meet new people.

keep in mind, the places are small and may not accomodate people that just show up that are not with the bus tour.

Again - the tour is a great deal and I encourage anyone that can to get a ticket and enjoy the entire ride. !!

MEOW !!

:o Ok folks just to clarify things...

There's a very obvious reason for not being able to accomodate folks dropping in along the way...

With the exception of Hala Kahiki, these are all small venues and only hold around a hundred or so people, so all you have to do is be able to add. Two busses @ 53 people each = 106 Tikiphiles accending on these places at one time, I think ya'll can grasp that right?

As far as Sunday's festivities at the Chef, again there will be approximately 106 people there for the duration of the afternoon. The Chef does hold more people, so there will probably be limited seating available as we get closer to the big weekend. Hope this helps put thing in perspective. :D

Edited to reflect that ticket price does not include the mug, that's a separate purchase!

Gotcha...

And just to clarify my question :) if I / we buy tickets for CATT, can we simply not go to all of the places / events, not ride the bus, and just go to the ones we can make it to, because by buying tickets, we'd be "part of the count" and then seating shouldn't be a problem, etc. etc.?

Sorry, should have worded my original question that way!

C

Aloha Luki!

Let's continue this conversation via PM.

I'm in transit currently, but will shoot you a note when I get where I'm headed meter tonight

Look out cocktails I'm a pretty thirsty gal.
