The Sahara closed its doors after nearly 60 years in business last month. Now, the hotel-casino is offering the public to get a piece of Las Vegas history.

The doors will be open again Thursday, June 16 at 10 a.m. to sell off goods inside the hotel, including lamps, chandeliers, chairs, and neon signs.

The hotel-wide fire sale is first come first serve, and the sale will go on until everything is gone or by June 19, a report from Vegas Chatter said Friday.

Crap...

OK, so much for the Sahara ever reopening. The building may be re-purposed but I doubt the "brand" will be returning. :(

And here's what MrSmiley posted a few weeks ago. What ever happened with this? Will there be Tikis for sale ??

HI, I have good news and bad news! The good news is the Don The Beachcomber restaurant space STILL EXISTS in Las Vegas.
The bad news is it is in the Sahara Hotel casino and the Sahara closed today at 2pm and may never reopen!
A friend took some pictures. I will see if I can get him to post them-or ask him if I can post them.
How sad to think that Vintage Tiki still existed in Las Vegas and it was right under our noses! :(

Is the actual interior still there?
I'll be there next month, and wouldn't mind poking around.

Yes, some of Don's the interior is still there, but I doubt they can easily be removed!

IF the owners reopen the hotel, it seems the rebranding would be total-new name, etc. BUT, when I say that they seem to be selling everything including kitchen appliances, I have real doubts that the place will not be imploded! :(

Good urban archeology, Mr. Smiley.
Do you care to reveal your secrets as to how you got in?

A friend knew about the restaurant becasue he lived here all his life. He just walked in on closing weekend. I stole his photocollage!
