Which is the authentic/best recipe?

The one we get from Jeff Berry:
8 oz passion fruit juice or nectar
1 1/2 oz amber 151 proof rum – i used LH151 and Coruba overproof
1 oz Dark Jamaican rum
1 oz Bourbon
1/2 oz orange curacao
2 dashes Angostura bitters

Or the other popular recipe we see out there:
½ oz Lime Juice
¼ oz Cinnamon Syrup
1 ½ oz crushed mango (sub mango puree)
1 oz Gin
1 oz Light Puerto Rican Rum
2 drops almond extract

Any thoughts, reactions, other recipes?

I would usually go with the Bum rather than just random recipes found on the Web. According to the book "The Essential Cocktail: The Art of Mixing Perfect Drinks," by Dale DeGroff, the recipe is:

  • 1/2 oz of Bourbon
  • 1/2 oz Lemon Hart 80-proof rum
  • 1/4 oz Orange Curacao
  • 3 oz Sweetened passion fruit juice (passion fruit syrup?)
  • Dash of Angostura bitters
  • 151-proof Demerara rum (to float)

That looks pretty much like the Bum's recipe cut in half.
