  2. “Dinah” the song by Harry Akst, Sam M. Lewis & Joe Young for the 1923 Eddie Cantor Musical: Kid Boots. From the collection: Red Norvo Small Bands: The Complete V-Disc Recordings, featuring birthday boy on Vibes (These 12-inch, vinyl 78 rpm recordings were created for the Army between October 1943 and May 1949, and Navy discs were released between July 1944 and September 1945. Covered period when the musician’s union recording ban occurred. When 136 grooves per inch were used, the 12-inch discs could hold up to six and a half minutes of music.

  3. “Little Jazz Bird,” The 1924 song by George & Ira Gershwin sung by birthday boy Mark Murphy from Crazy Rhythm: Debut Recordings, which originally appeared on his 1957 LP: Let Yourself Go.

  6. “Golden Days,” composed and performed by birthday boy King Pleasure from his CD: Interpretation of Moods.

  7. “The Lip”from the collection: Absolutely the Best of Keely Smith, With Louis Prima, a hat trick mentioning two of our birthday boys, Bix Beiderbecke and Harry James, in a performance by our birthday girl Keely Smith.
